Regular Volunteer Sessions

As the shrubs and trees in the Garden take a winter hiatus, we are planning now for Saturday work parties on April 5th and April 19th to refresh the raised beds with new soil and a variety of plant materials well-suited to the increased shade of the mature tree canopy. We hope you will mark your calendars and sign up to join us!

Regular Volunteer Sessions occur on the 1st and 3rd Saturdays of every month from 9:30 - 11:30am, and drop-ins are welcome:

  • Open to all ages and skills
  • Supervised by our knowledgeable contract gardeners year-round
  • Garden grooming tasks include weeding, sweeping, dead-heading, leaf clean-up, picking up litter, occasional planting, and generally maintaining the safety and cleanliness of the premises.
  • We have the tools, so just bring your garden gloves and dig in!

Thank you to all who have participated in maintaining the Garden over the
years. We hope new supporters will join our team and come grow with us into the future.

Seeking Monthly Gardening Teams

The Portland Memory Garden has depended on the care of the community over the years. Our four-season garden requires care year-round to stay well-
groomed. We invite you to come grow with us! It’s fun! It relieves stress!

Our goal is to recruit 5-8 committed monthly teams. Here’s what we ask of each 3-5 member Gardening Team:

  • Help keep the Garden at its best year-round.
  • Commit to one gardening session of 2-3 hours each month for at least one year.
  • Choose a regularly scheduled 1st or 3rd Saturday or arrange a custom day of the month.
  • Begin in April 2025 at one of two Work Parties, scheduled on April 5th and April 19th, 9:30 to 11:30
